I love open shelves in the kitchen. I think it just feels so much lighter. I also love beautiful dishes and kitchen accessories, so the idea of always being able to create a beautiful display with those things is something I thinks is wonderful! I so badly want to take the doors off some of my kitchen cabinets to create such a look, however, as some of my fellow renters and/or renovators may know, sometimes getting through the gazillion layers of paint applied directly over screws and hinges (why!?) makes that much easier said than done.
